Sera is one of the more focused field service platforms in the trades — purpose-built for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors, headquartered in Grapevine, Texas, with $399/month for up to four techs plus $149/month per additional tech as the published pricing.1 The pitch is direct: stop paying for features you'll never touch, get a tool that protects your margins.2 User satisfaction sits at 89% across 79 reviews.3 This page is the honest comparison.

What Sera does well

Genuine HVAC/plumbing/electrical focus. Built specifically for these three trades — not adapted from generic FSM. The platform's features are tailored to service-agreement-based trades, residential contractors, and margin-pricing workflows.1

Margin pricing as a core feature. Sera ties job costs directly to quotes so technicians and office staff can see profitability in real time rather than discovering problems at month-end. For shops that have been running on gut feel, this alone is meaningful.4

Transparent published pricing. $399/month for up to four techs, $149/month per additional tech. The website publishes the number — uncommon in this category.1

Reasonable cost for small shops. A five-person shop pays roughly $548/month all-in.4

Free HVAC and plumbing pricebook included. Sera ships a proven pricebook for HVAC and plumbing contractors as part of the platform.5

Genuinely strong customer support and onboarding. Multiple reviewers describe Sera as a "family feel" company that responds to feedback, with hands-on onboarding specialists who help during migration, and ongoing support quality reviewers consistently mention.6 Sera reports its clients average a 52% net profit increase and 90% tech efficiency improvement in the first six months — vendor-reported figures rather than independent benchmarks, but the customer testimonials supporting them are substantive.7

Customer Hub on your website. The customer-facing booking widget that integrates directly with your website, allowing customers to schedule, reschedule, see service history, accept estimates, and view and pay invoices.8 Real customer-experience capability built into the base platform.

Good-better-best tiered pricing with membership presentation. The Tech App shows good-better-best quote tiers with two-column membership-savings presentation, helping techs sell memberships and upsell add-ons in the field.8

No charge for administrators and owners. Sera's pricing scales by field technician count; administrators and owner seats are free.8 An uncommon and trade-friendly pricing decision.

If those are doing real work for your shop, the rest of this page is for owners who've started to think about architecture.

Where Dino AI Hub is structurally different

Per-tech pricing compounds. Sera's $399 base covers 4 techs, then $149 per additional tech per month. A 10-tech shop pays $399 + 6 × $149 = $1,293/month, or roughly $15,500/year before any add-ons. A 20-tech shop pays $399 + 16 × $149 = $2,783/month, or $33,400/year.1 Dino AI Hub is a one-time hardware purchase regardless of team size up to the appliance's concurrency capacity.

Annual contract required. Sera's standard subscription requires an annual contract.1 Dino AI Hub is a one-time purchase — no ongoing contract.

Onboarding fee separate. Sera's published pricing does not include onboarding; an onboarding fee applies separately.1 Dino AI Hub includes white-glove onboarding in the appliance price.

AI receptionist architecture. Sera does not ship a native AI voice receptionist as of early 2026 based on available product documentation. Shops typically add a separate AI receptionist subscription (Rosie, Goodcall, NextPhone, etc.). Dino AI Hub includes a local AI receptionist as part of the appliance.

Limited trade support. Sera explicitly supports HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. Appliance repair is not listed as a supported trade.9 Other specialty trades (garage door, locksmith, junk removal) are not Sera's focus. Dino AI Hub is built for the broader range of trade businesses.

QuickBooks via third-party midware. Sera connects to QuickBooks through SaasAnt's midware, which public user reports describe as occasionally having data-accuracy issues on the accounting side.10 Individual reports rather than universal experiences. Dino AI Hub handles accounting integration natively without third-party middleware.

Cloud architecture. Same architectural argument as the other cloud FSM comparisons. With any cloud platform, your business depends on the vendor's infrastructure, uptime, privacy policies, export tools, security practices, and product roadmap. For many shops, that tradeoff is acceptable. Dino AI Hub is built for owners who want the operational layer and customer conversations to remain physically inside the business.

The math

Sera's pricing is published: $399/month for 4 techs, $149/month per additional tech.1

Scenario one: 4-tech HVAC shop on Sera entry

  • Sera base (4 techs): $399/month = $4,788/year
  • Plus onboarding fee (separate)
  • Plus separate AI receptionist: $1,200-$2,400/year
  • Annual subtotal: ~$6,000-$7,200/year ongoing (plus onboarding first year)

Scenario two: 10-tech HVAC/plumbing shop

  • Sera (4 base + 6 additional): $399 + $894 = $1,293/month = $15,516/year1
  • Plus AI receptionist: $1,800-$3,000/year
  • Annual subtotal: ~$17,300-$18,500/year

Scenario three: 20-tech HVAC operation

  • Sera (4 base + 16 additional): $399 + $2,384 = $2,783/month = $33,396/year1
  • Plus AI receptionist: $2,400-$4,000/year
  • Annual subtotal: ~$35,800-$37,400/year

At the 4-tech entry tier, Sera is reasonably priced and Dino AI Hub may not yet pencil out. At the 10+ tech mark, the per-additional-tech model starts to compound. By 20 techs, the freed annual budget under Dino AI Hub is substantial.

A note about how those numbers look on paper

Sera publishes core pricing ($399/month for up to 4 techs, $149/month per additional tech) on its website. Onboarding fees and any add-ons are separate. The figures above use the published rates as of early 2026.

The pattern: per-tech subscription compounds as you grow. A purchase-once appliance does not.

Who shouldn't switch

You should stay with Sera, at least for now, if any of these is true:

  • HVAC, plumbing, or electrical shops at the 2-6 tech scale where Sera's pricing is competitive. Below 6 techs, Sera's flat-base-plus-per-tech model is reasonable, and Dino AI Hub's hardware purchase may not yet pencil out.
  • Operations relying on Sera's margin-pricing capability as a real differentiator. If you've configured the margin-pricing module to drive your good-better-best quotes and your shop's profitability has improved measurably, that's a feature you'd be giving up to switch.
  • You've invested heavily in Sera's pricebook customization. The free HVAC and plumbing pricebook is a real onboarding benefit, but most shops then customize it heavily. That customization is a switching cost.
  • You have an active, valuable relationship with the Sera team. Multiple reviews describe Sera's customer support and onboarding specialists as a real differentiator. If you've built a working relationship with your rep and your onboarding specialist, that's not nothing.
  • You're using the Customer Hub booking widget on your website effectively. If customers regularly book through the widget and that's a meaningful share of new appointments, the workflow is worth keeping.
  • You're mid-contract on Sera's annual plan. Wait out the term and revisit at renewal.
  • You do not have the upfront capital for hardware right now. Dino AI Hub is cheaper over five years but more expensive in month one. If cash flow makes the upfront purchase a stretch, Sera's monthly pricing is the right answer for now.

If none of the above applies — if you are an HVAC, plumbing, or electrical shop past the 10-tech mark, watching the per-tech subscription compound with every hire, paying for a separate AI receptionist on top, and aware that customer data and AI conversations live on Sera's infrastructure — the architecture is on your side and the long-term math is on your side.

The conversation we'd suggest

For shops at 4-6 techs, Sera and Dino AI Hub may both be reasonable depending on whether you value margin-pricing depth or local-AI architecture more. At 10+ techs, the per-additional-tech model becomes a real consideration against a one-time hardware purchase. We'll look at your actual configuration and tell you honestly.
